Hartford Castle
Hartford, IL 62048
This castle was originally a private home called Lakeview, built by French immigrant Benjamin Biszant in 1897. It was then a speakeasy during the Prohibition. Biszant's English wife passed away in the home in the early 1900's and her ghost is said to linger the place. After a period of being a private home again, the castle burned down in March, 1973 and now lies in ruins. Witnesses have said the ghostly wife has been seen wandering the grounds and crying, and that old-time music will play on summer nights.

Reviews
I was born and lived in one of the service houses and I am friends with one of the owners grand daughter. this was a beautiful place and it was not haunted. it upsets me to see this kind of stuff about a loving place that had a beautiful history.
