Roff House - The Watseka Wonder
Watseka, IL 60970
The Roff House is one of the two homes in which The Watseka Wonder occurred. The Watseka Wonder was a spirtual possession that was said to have happened in the late 19th Century to a 14 year old girl named Lurancy Vennum, who suffered from epilepsy. She was supposedly possessed for 15 weeks by the daughter of Asa Roff and during this time, she recognized all of the Roff residents and could even describe the items in their home that would otherwise have been unknown to her. The film "The Possessed," 2009, tells this story. Today, the home is open for ghost tours by appointment.
