Ax-Man's House - Ax-Man's Bridge
Crete, IL 60417
The story of this haunt is that a man killed his wife, kids, and two policeman with an ax in the 1970's before hanging their bodies from meat hooks in his shed. He ran from the cops when they found out about the killings and the cops shot him in the woods near the small bridge. The house is now gone but many say the bridge and woods are now haunted. Witnesses have reported hearing children screaming or laughing, seeing the apparition of a crying woman, strange lights coming from the woods and the sound of someone running.

So I’ve went into the woods and by the actual bridge several times and have had MANY experiences with the haunt. Now to be able to enter you have to park pretty far it’s a hike from where you park your car to the actual site. There’s a hidden entrance into the woods you definitely have to keep a close eye for it. My friends and I have heard of a woman crying, we felt a really odd and welcoming presence, we heard some screaming as well and at one point we saw a woman crouched down in between brushes sobbing (we definitely made a run for it after seeing that). We have always went after dark roughly between the hours of 11pm and 3am.

Old Post Road is a nice ride on a motorcycle. There is nowhere to park and only a very narrow shoulder. We ended up just parking our bikes as far over to the side of the bridge as possible. We walked north & south of the bridge a bit, looking for a way to get into the woods & further down the creek to the old bridge. Never found a way to get closer. Drove around looking for a possible back way in with no luck. Everything here is private, residential property.
A nice ride, but a total bummer of a haunt. Just a bridge over a creek.
