St. Rita of Cascia
Chicago, IL 60620
Stories say that in the 1960's on All Souls Day (November 2nd), a harrowing experience occurred here. A small group of parishioners witnessed the organ begin to play by itself as 6 robed monks, 3 in red and 3 in white, advanced toward the churchgoers. When the parishioners tried to flee the church, they were locked in. The organ music and visions faded after about two minutes, and at the end of the incident, a disembodied voice said "Pray for us."

I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when this happened and was attending St. Rita Grammar School which was on the same property as the church. The parish pastor was interviewed on the radio which was played in all the classrooms. He, of course, categorically denied anything paranormal happening in the church. He claimed the heavy, bronze doors didn't open because of the wind. It happened so long ago, yet I still remember this vividly.

St. Rita HS wasn’t located at that location at that time. That was Quigley Seminary South HS.
