The university is home to many haunted buildings. They include the Wheeler Hall, Faner Hall, Anthony Hall, Shryock Auditorium, and Mae Smith Residence Hall. Some believe the spirit of former university president Henry William Shryock exists in the auditorium. He suddenly die there in 1935. Now people believe the incidences where the stages lights would turn on and off on their own are the action of his spirit. There's also other haunting experiences reported including doors opening and closing on their own, shadowy figures, and sounds of typing and file cabinet draws opening particularly at the Mae Smith Residence Hall where it's believe to be that of the spirit of a fomer secretary. There was previously a secretary who died on the job there.
