This structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house has a bizarre design according to many because it was done based on George Stickney's belief in spiritualism. It is located off a beaten path that is very much secluded along a deserted highway. The house was built in the 1800's for accomplished mediums George and Sylvia Stickney.

The two-story house had a ballroom on the second floor that ran the full length of the building. No square corners were allowed for the house design as it was believed spirits had a tendency to get stuck in corners, but due to error one corner of the home did have a 90-degree measurement. When Mr. Stickney discovered the flaw, it eventually led to his death by an evil spirit many believe. Mr. Stickeney was discovered one day dead, slumped over on the floor in the corner of the home that had the design flaw.

After the death of Mr. Stickney, Mrs. Stickney grew fame as a spirit medium. People came from far away places to make contact with ghosts at the house. While it started off as a place for spiritualistic activities, it later became known as a place for devil worshippers when the property switched hands. Spirits good and evil are believed to continue to linger here while it now houses the local police department.

Grew up near here in the 1960s and 70s

We always had great stories about this place but nothing ever happened there. When I was in High school in the 70s we used to scare our dates by driving past the house while telling the stories. Occasionally we would park and get out of the car and really scare them! Around 1980 I drove past the house almost every day for two years on my way to classes at the community college. We all knew the apparently real story that it was built with no corners to keep evil spirits from getting stuck there, but we really embellished with our own made-up stories to make it sound more sinister. Besides the rounded corners, there was also a large pentagram painted on the face of the barn on the property. You could see it back then when driving north past the property. It was supposedly for the purpose of warding off evil spirits from causing sickness to the animals and/or bad crops.
Another little-known fact is that this house has always been mixed-up with another house that used to sit just to the south down the road on the northwest corner where the road ends. Everyone these days calls the Stickney house the "devil worshipper house", but it was this other house that we used to refer to that way. The house is long-gone and the entire area is now really beautiful property with some gorgeous homes and a conservation area, but 40 years ago there was a really creepy old house hidden by trees located there. The driveway had two narrow concrete columns on either side near the road and what appeared to be human skulls mounted on top. In reality it was probably just really weathered concrete spheres, but they were dark and overgrown and the whole thing looked very creepy. That was what we referred to as the "devil worshipper house".
It's cool that the Stickney house has been preserved but there is really nothing to see there.

Vintage Miusic Playing at late hours

People have recently been hearing old record players playing old music, around this home and the surrounding woods. They recorded it, sounds very creepy. Its active now, if people have more "guts" than me, go scope it out, at night.

Grew up near there

The story was that he believed the devil hid in corners, so he had the house built with no corners. It wasn't due to spirituality, rather superstition! We went there many times when the house sat vacant, nothing odd, eerie or mysterious ever happened. Don't waste your time.
