Ruebel Hotel - Real Grafton Haunted Place
- 217 E Main St
- Grafton, IL
This hotel was built in 1879 and became the largest commercial hotel in the County. Back then, rooms went for $1 per day and guest also enjoyed that it had the finest saloon in town. The hotel continued to thrive, but in 1912 it caught on fire. Fortunately the hotel was quickly rebuilt, adding a restaurant on the 1st floor as well as a dance hall for the 2nd floor.
According to guests as well as staff of the hotel, the place is haunted by at least one spirit. Many have reportedly seen and even talked to a spirit of a little girl named Abigail. She's been seen in the upstairs hallway and at the top of the stairway.

I stayed there a few years ago. the girl running the bar/resturant asked me the next morning if i heard anything. i said yes, it sounded like someone was moving furniture around.(i had woke up at 11pm to use the bathroom) that was when i heard the racket down the hall. she told me they all left at 8pm. there was only me in the hotel. If i had known at the time, i would have investigated!!Posted 3/13/20
