IllinoisHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Jonathan Unick of The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House, to discuss what's new at The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House for the 2021 Halloween Season!

What's new at The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House for 2021? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House has made many changes following our 2020 season! Some of these changes include a major renovation to our Mercy General Hospital, our fan favorite Gateway show, major changes to The Temple as well as Quimby's Slaughter House. We cannot wait to share the brand new experience coming to 2021!

What are you most excited about for the 2021 Halloween Season?

We are most excited to be able to return in full force after the difficult 2020 season we were faced with. We cannot wait to welcome back those who weren't able to join us last season as well as our die hard fans!

What differentiates The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House from other local haunts in Illinois?

The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House is best known for our insane length. Whereas the industry standard is a twenty to thirty minute experience, we are proud to host an approximately sixty minute long attraction. This gives the most dollar-to-minute value in the Chicago-land and Milwaukee area. One of the most unique experiences in the area is our fan favorite Buried Alive attraction. Something you must experience in person!

How long has The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House's history?

This year we will be celebrating our 25 season! Starting all the way back in 1997, The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House has grown and evolved drastically to get to where we are today. We cannot thank our incredible fans enough for getting us here!

What's your favorite experience since opening The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House?

The best experience since opening the haunted house is seeing the evolution of the attraction. From The Fallen Giant (A massive inflatable giant featured at Six Flags Great America's Fright Fest) to our current 43,000 square foot building, we have never stopped evolving. We are proud of our 25 seasons and cannot wait to celebrate with our die-hard fans.

How long is a typical haunt experience at The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House from start to finish?

As mentioned above, The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House can take approximately sixty minutes from start to finish. This is what makes us legendary!

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House is? Why?

We have always strived to ensure each and every customer that enters our attraction has the most intense and terrifying experience possible. We pride ourselves in training our actors during the off season to ensure they know every way possible to get under your skin. Our special effects are designed to disorient

Does The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

Although there is no documented haunted history in our building, our build crew and actors have mentioned multiple different instances that seem quite paranormal. Doors closing shut, motion sensor props being activated without anyone being in the building, and strange noises being heard while no one else was around.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

Owners Peter Koklamanis and Anthony Relken started The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House in 1997 as a crazy idea. Little did they know at the time, this would become their year-round career that would consume 25 (and counting) years of their lives. For us, the greatest reward for the round-the-clock work all year long is seeing our legendary fans come back year after year to experience their favorite haunted attraction. The screams, cries for help, laughter, tears, smiles, and memories made are what strive us to make the best show possible.

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House?

Over the past few years, we have been working hard to integrate modern technology seamlessly into our attraction. New controllers allow us to activate effects that will enhance a scare, smaller lights allow us to immerse our customers into the environment more than ever before, and even created a whole Drive In Theater experience in 2020.

Can The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House accommodate large groups? How many people can experience The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House together as a group?

Absolutely! The Dungeon of Doom Haunted House has a massive indoor waiting area to accommodate large crowds. We also offer two different ticket options that allow you to skip either a portion of the line or the entire line depending on your price point. To ensure everyone has a personable and intimate experience, we limit individual group sizes to eight people.

Does The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?

Yes! We often have discounts and deals available on our social media accounts as well as our emailing list. Be sure to follow us to receive the discounts!

Anything else you'd like to let us know about The Legendary Dungeon of Doom Haunted House?
